Let’s Talk Building Body Image in Sport

Group Size: 200 maximum
This presentation explores the various influences on body confidence including the sports we play.
Its focus is on providing young people with practical strategies for developing a healthy relationship with their bodies, food and the physical activity they engage in. Young people are encouraged to consider how they can support body confidence amongst their team mates/peers and to recognise when they or a friend may need further support.
Key themes
In this session young people will explore:
- The role of sport, sporting role models and other influences on body confidence and ideas about health and fitness
- The benefits of sporting participation on physical and mental health
- How appearance ideals influence ideas on what it means to have an ‘athletic body’
- How to know when training/exercise behaviours are becoming problematic
- What a healthy relationship with food and exercise/training looks like
- The importance of reaching out for help for ourselves or others
