Q. Who are you?
A. I am Sanii Banks and I AM LOYALTY. I am 13 and attend Nichols Jr High.
Q. Share one way in which you live out who you are everyday?
A. One way I express who I am is through sports. I play basketball everyday to get better at the sport, I desire to be LOYAL to the sport.
Q. What is your goal for this academic school year?
A. My goals for this academic school year, is to stay out of drama, get good grades and focus on my sports.
Q. What personal challenges have you had to overcome within the last 12 to 24 months? And how were you able to overcome them.
A. I had to overcome my attitude. I started sitting by myself, getting quiet, listening to music and not talking to anyone.
Q. Do you feel that it is easy or difficult to be a girl in this culture?
A. Yes, because as a African American girl, people doubt that we can accomplish anything other than going out with boys, and getting pregnant.
Q. If you had to deliver the United Girls Around the World Address, share one thing you would say to girls around the world?
A. I would say that girls face more obstacles to education than boys but the power of education can change a girl and even the world.
Q. If you could give one piece of advice to parents of youth, what would it be?
A. Always protect and love your child no matter what.
Q. Ten years from now, where will you be and what will you be doing?
A. In ten years. I see myself in college.
